Meet the Hauver Family

“I don’t think anything in life can prepare you for having your wife in a critical care unit with a grim prognosis at the same time your son is in the operating room,” says Shawn Hauver, Dawn’s husband and Dylan’s father. Shortly after arriving at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital ER, Dawn suffered a cardiac arrest. When Shawn arrived, he was escorted to Memorial Regional Hospital ER, where Dawn was being revived. A family advocate (paid through an allocation from Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundation) assisted Shawn throughout the ordeal. “Thanks to your incredible cardiology team, Dawn is doing well; Dylan had his appendix removed and was riding his bike 24 hours after surgery. Were it not for the amazing care our family received, it would have been a much different experience with a much different outcome. Fortunately, my family and yours have world-class healthcare right here in our own backyard.”
