Jessie J. Salone Nursing Education Fund

The Nursing Education Fund was established in 2006 in honor of long time Memorial Regional Hospital registered nurse Jessie Salone. Jessie never forgot the basics of nursing revolving around “care.” It is in this spirit that the fund was established to ensure that nurses at the hospital where she worked would always have the opportunity to develop these skills and ensure a caring environment.

Since the establishment of the Fund, the hospital has organized a series of “Jessie Salone Day of Caring Seminars” to promote continuous education as a means to continue the education of nurses in the traditional manner of patient and family centered care.

In addition, an annual academic nursing scholarship is awarded to a nursing student employed by Memorial Regional Hospital or Joe DiMaggio’s Children’s Hospital who demonstrates the capacity to integrate a caring philosophy in addition to their rigorous nursing coursework.

Generous donations from family, friends, and those particularly touched by an experience with the nursing community, make these activities possible.
